The studio

The press came first and the business followed, in the usual order for this trade. One of us served an apprenticeship in a commercial jobbing shop before it closed; the other came from bookbinding and still does most of the sewing.

We print about fifteen jobs a year. That is not many, and it is deliberate: make-ready does not compress, and a rushed forme shows in the sheet.

There is no shop counter and no card machine. Editions are sold at two or three fairs a year and otherwise by email.

Teaching

We run a two-day introduction four times a year, six people maximum, and it fills by word of mouth. It covers composing from the case, lock-up, make-ready, and printing a small edition you take home. Ask by email to be put on the list.
